I have spent over 20 days this year in the DR with a companion. My comments are based on my observations and others may have a different
As a favor to Fior and Bulldog perhaps I can shed some light on legitimate travel concerns expressed by future travelers. I’ll try to do it in order of events.
I am a U.S. citizen so that’s my reference point.
Arrival at Santo Domingo airport is safe and the airport is a first world facility.
Fill out the E form..simple a bit redundant but it can save you some time.
once you exit baggage claim you will be in the airport but outside of security. To your left you will most likely see a smiling lady..Fior.
She will escort you to an awaiting vehicle whose driver you would hire to drive your children to school.
Depending on where you stay you will be driven to the hotel (Boca 3) and when you exit the vehicle you will walk a flight of stairs and enter the hotel.
After the usual check in procedure you will be given a wrist ban. Try not to loose your arm since without it you ain’t getting back in.
The rooms are clean, spartan with a great view of the Caribbean and a comfortable bed and very decent bathroom. It isn’t the four season, but you will be with your young lady.
REMEMBER the girls are sensitive and kind. Fior trains the staff well. Think of going on a date with a girl you always wanted to ask out. Every lady has her personal limits and you darn well better respect them.
Breakfast is included and it’s decent. You will receive about $60/ day from Fior for dinner. Be generous to your companion or companions. Nancy’s is next door and the food variety is much better than the Hotels.
However the bar is good and the staff is great and is always greater if you leave a $1 or so when you order something. In fact that goes for everywhere. Bring 5-10 one dollar bills per day and you will be treated royally.
The first day the music will seem loud, but the third day you might really dig the beat and the energy.
This is not the USA. Things move calmly and at a steady pace but be patient…the Dominican people are very proud enjoy and respect them and again you will have a great experience.
Use google translater and maybe practice a little before you arrive.
The beach is very busy on weekends because folks can bring food and its only 15-20 minutes from the city.
If you’re a little adventurous go down to Santo Domingo during the day and check out the city. Either Adrian Fior’s driver or a taxi will take you round trip for about $60.00.
There is an excellent currency exchange across the street and through an obvious walkway. Turn right and it’s a 200’ across the street.
You will pass a pharmacy for any personal needs.
Most restaurants in Boca Chica and most small shops accept only cash so bring some!
Finally enjoy the moment with your young lady and don’t be afraid to spend a few dollars on her.
If your undecided on how many days to book…choose the longer of your thoughts.
Finally it’s your vacation have fun spread cheer and live put your fantasy.
Oh and lastly be careful with your heart you might fall fall in love with the people and your companion.
