I will be at CFI next week. Any tips to prevent tap water ingestion from the unobvious circumstances ? Like in the shower, on washed utensils, after showering, etc

Keep mouth closed in shower or spit it out immediately if any gets in your mouth. And drink alcohol while eating. But in reality that little bit shouldn’t affect anyone. Use bottled water to brush your teeth.

As Bandit said the little bit of inadvertent ingestion should not have any adverse effects. One other suggestion is to not use ice in drinks. Another thing I would avoid if you are concerned about stomach issues, is seafood from street venders. It tastes wonderful but may be risky. The better restaurants should be safe.

I have been going for a long time and I am not real careful when it comes to the water. I brush my teeth with tap water, sometimes when I rinse I swallow some and I have even drank the tap water on occasion, and never gotten sick yet. Yes I would definitely stay away from the vendors on the beach, but the ice in the hotel is commercial and should be good.

is bottled water available everywhere? I know someone who vacationed in DR and ended up coming home because he got sick from the water and almost died.

I have made a lot or trips to the DR, never had an issue. I don't drink glasses of their water, but I shower, brush my teeth, use ice in drinks (commercial ice is safe) and have never had a problem. And bottle water is plentiful so you don't have to worry. I would however, heed the advise about not buying food from street vendors and stick to restaurants.

Eaglesfan bottled water is as prevalent there as in the US. You’ll find it everywhere.
